About the Foundation

The Rainforest Defense Foundation is a non-profit organization which is dedicated to the prevention of future pandemics and emerging deadly diseases by protecting the world’s rainforests and preventing their ongoing deforestation.

PREVENTION of future disease is essential! COVID-19 was the beginning, but there are more and deadlier viruses lurking in rainforests and rainforest animals. Rainforest Defense Foundation is not a government or corporate-funded organization. The Rainforest Defense Foundation is funded by the people and for the people.

According to the World Economic Forum (WEForum), protecting rainforests has direct economic and cultural benefits which are worth more in money and environmental benefits than short-term money gains from deforestation and exploitation:

•   Help to control climate change

•   Source of new pharmaceutical and medical discoveries and benefits

•   Water sustainability and purity

•   Biodiversity

•   Rainforests are the Lungs of the Earth, making 20% of our oxygen.

But we are losing this resource! Since the 1960s, almost half of the world’s rainforests have been destroyed. WEForum reports that every day, the world loses about 81,000 hectares of rainforest.

Our efforts to build strong forests and healthy communities are making a difference.

Our Mission

The mission of the Rainforest Defense Foundation is to help humanity survive the threat of deadly viruses through the defense of the rainforest.

Our Approach

RDF will help and collaborate with countries, companies, and villagers to protect the rainforest through our advocacy, action, and technology

Accountability

Environmental damage to the rainforests is just the start. In addition to soil degradation in areas where forest has been logged, burned, or otherwise destroyed, animal habitats and plant biodiversity are also victims of rainforest destruction. While healthy rainforests can remove up to one-third of the C02 produced by fossil fuel use each year, their ongoing destruction increases the pace of climate change and CO2 in the atmosphere.
